Lower Deck
Upper Deck
This modern cottage-style home
has 2 staterooms (bedrooms), 2 baths and a utility room on
the main deck. On the upper deck is galley, dining and living
areas as well as an optional powder room. The float size
is only 25 feet x 25 feet (625 square feet) but provides
1,225 square feet of living area. Small but stylish- perfect
for a single or a couple.
Design #2
Another cottage-style floathome. This home
is on a 25 foot x 30 foot float (750 square foot footprint)
and so the staterooms and other living areas are larger.
Again, staterooms, baths and utility rooms are down with
entertaining, dining and galley up. Although there are no
exterior decks this design can easily be altered to provide
exterior deck space. This home is a more substantial 1,472
square feet of interior space.
Design #3 - Current Show Home Plan at Westbay
This is a two
storey version of our three-storey showhome. Showhome pictures
can be seen in our Gallery. This
strikingly modern design by Donovan Marshall, Architect,
has many intriguing features. Again, staterooms are on
the lower deck along with the utility room. Note the articulation
with the upper deck powder room, the use of glass block
to
provide privacy at dock level and the massive windows to
provide unobstructed water and marina views from almost
any vantage point in the home. Our showhome adds a 300 square
foot office/den on the third floor as well as an enclosed
Bar-B-Que and entertaining kitchen... a great addition
to
the huge deck. The two-storey version of this design provides
1,483 square feet of interior living area while the three
storey version gives almost 1,800. This home can be modified
with different roof design as well. It looks fantastic
with a 1/2 "barrel vault" roof line.
Design #4
One of our favourite floathome designs so far.
This home is a mix of modern flair and nautical icons. The
wonderful "wave " roofline and round windows evoke
images of sea and ship. This unique design accommodates the
owners young "crew" on the lower deck while the
Master and the Mate enjoy the privacy and view afforded the
top deck. In between is living, galley and dining. Note the
number of exterior decks-every vantage point is accounted
for. Also note the upper deck hot tub and the open ceiling
of the floor below. Again, huge windows bring the spectacular
views right into the home.
Design #5 - The Millen House
The Millen House. This home is
almost in a league of its own. Look at the photos of this
home under
construction in our photo Gallery. This three-storey, 2,
200 square foot home is a delight inside and out. Arts and
Crafts style is evident in the roofline, the sculpted knee-braces,
wood framed windows and the real shake and cedar board and
batten exterior. The interior finish of this home is what
craftsmanship is all about. Built -in cabinets, wall units
and seating are employed throughout the house. The finest
local woods blend with slate tiles to make an elegant yet
casual and cozy home. This home will be finished and occupied
by its proud owners in October, 2004.
Design #6 - The Desjardin House
This home has over 2,100 square
feet of interior space and is an example of a floathome that
is the maximum size permitted in our Floathome Village. The
Lower Deck at water level has two bedrooms with en-suite
bathrooms as well as the usual Laundry Room and Utility Room.
The Utility Room has its own entrance to allow the hockey
player owner to enter the home and hang his hockey gear on
its own rack near the Laundry.
Note the unique location of the stairs with the large
floor to ceiling windows.
On the Middle Deck are the Living Room, Dining Room and
Kitchen. In addition a Powder Room and a cozy home office
are tucked strategically in their own unique spaces. Both
the Living Room and Dining Room have their own small decks
from which to enjoy the views or to dine el fresco.
Another bedroom and bath is located on the Upper Deck
but what really makes this part of the home special is
the huge deck which will have unobstructed views of Victoria
Harbour and the Downtown skyline.
Another unique feature if this home is its interesting
use of vertical steel siding. This material is strong,
easy to maintain and provides a striking look to the exterior.
Design #7 - The Hull House
Proving once again small can be
beautiful! This couples house was designed as a home base
for avid canoeists as their urban getaway home. Built on
only a 500 square foot platform (982 square foot overall
interior area) this two-level house is compact and efficient.
The Lower Deck has the bedroom and bath as well as an office
area. The Utility and Laundry Rooms are combined into one
space.
On the Upper Deck Kitchen, Dining and Living flow together
in an open plan layout. A Powder Room provides added convenience.
The gas fireplace is not only a central design feature
but also will provide efficient heating to the home. Large
windows will allow excellent views of the marina from this
Floathome’s very desirable location in Marine Lot
#6. A unique feature to this home is the vaulted ceiling
throughout the Upper Deck with a huge skylight that makes
the interior airy and bright even when the cloudy days
appear. Note also the interesting texture and lapping of
the exterior horizontal siding.
